Course and clinical components
Participants first visited a public primary care facility of the Indonesian health system, the Puskesmas Gedongtengen. Subsequently, ten dermatological patients were presented live, examined and discussed in small groups at the university dermatology clinic of the Gadjah Mada University.
Advanced seminar
The German-language DDA advanced seminar, led by Prof. Isaak Effendy, covered bacterial infections in the tropics, viral infections, worm diseases relevant to tropical dermatology and tropical mycoses. The content was discussed with many case examples.
Conference topics
The international conference comprised plenary lectures and parallel symposia. Among others, atopic eczema, clinical immunology, hair and sex hormones, lasers, acne scars, facial wound closure, acne management, HIV, HLA-B alleles and nevirapine allergy, STI risks among LGBT people, dermatoses on white and pigmented skin, leprosy, antifungals, new developments in STIs, scabies, psoriasis, cutaneous mosaicism, bullous dermatoses, yaws, tinea capitis, skin problems in states of starvation and severe skin infections were featured.
