Travel scholarships
The ISDT places particular emphasis on personal continuing education and on international professional exchange. For this reason it has been awarding travel scholarships since 1998.

The scholarship supports a stay of at least three weeks at a dermatological institution in a tropical or subtropical country. It is intended to raise awareness of the challenges of dermatological care in these regions, to deepen knowledge of tropical dermatology and tropical medicine, and to foster lasting personal and institutional cooperation.
Who can apply?
The scholarship is open to all members of the ISDT who are at least in specialist training.
Duration of stay
At least three weeks at a dermatological institution in a tropical or subtropical country.
Application
Applications can be submitted informally at any time by email to info@tropendermatologie.de.
Reporting
After the stay, a written report on the experience must be submitted. In addition, a short presentation at the next general assembly is requested.
To be enclosed with the application
- invitation from the host institution
- description of the planned clinical, scientific and/or educational activities
- where applicable, a description of scientific projects
- a cost plan
What is funded
- outward and return journey by the direct route between place of residence and host institution
- accommodation costs
- visa costs
What is not funded
- tourist detours or onward journeys
- meals
- local transport costs
- vaccinations
- insurance
- other personal expenses
Maximum funding
€2,000
Applicants are expressly encouraged to establish contacts with suitable host institutions themselves. On request, the board will help to arrange suitable contacts.
