About the meeting
The 7th annual meeting of the ISDT was held under the theme “Globalisation, Climate Change, Migration: Dermatological Challenges 2019”. The invitation emphasised that tropical skin diseases are increasingly being diagnosed in Germany as a result of mobility, migration and international missions, and that tropical dermatology is therefore becoming more prominent in dermatological practice and clinical settings.

Programme focus
The programme ranged from podoconiosis in East Africa, through tropical infections such as chromoblastomycosis and schistosomiasis, to diseases in returning travellers, PVL-positive Staphylococcus aureus infections and terbinafine-resistant tinea. Further topics included parasitology, travelling while on biologics, tropical diseases as occupational diseases, as well as reports from humanitarian dermatological missions in Ethiopia, Cambodia, Uganda and on the Amazon.
